TRANSLATION.

532/27.

From Commissioner for Foreign Affairs,

Canton.

31st December, 1927.

Sir,

I have the honour to refer to the third protest

which my predecessor presented to you on the 10th

November in regard to shops and houses burnt at

Tai Ping su and Fu Li Tsun by British warships.

He also enclosed a list of claims and requested that

those responsible be punished and that a guarantee

be provided that such conduct would not be repeated.

I now find that there are certain claims not

included in the original list which I forward to

you herewith with the request that you will transmit

them to the Governor of Hongkong that they and the

matters enumerated in my predecessor's letter referred

to above may be at once dealt with. I have also to

request that I may be favoured with a reply.

(Sgd) Chu Chao-hsin.

Commissioner for Foreign Affairs.
